National Championship
27 June 2010

On a swelteringly hot day in Lancashire GWR Team rider Doug Dewey narrowly missed out on a medal by being 4th Under 23 rider home in yesterdays National Elite Mens Road Race Championships. A truly excellent performance after a savage race of 180 kilometres with the equivalent amount of climbing to that of a high mountain stage in the Tour De France. He finished with what constituted the peloton to take 17th overall, in the race where Sky Pro Cycling Geraint Thomas took the Elite title, as other British Tour De France riders like David Millar, Dan Lloyd and Mark Cavendish were among well almost 100 riders to quit in the tough conditions. A full report and pictures will be issued later in the week.
